Privacy Policy

Previous version effective date: May 13, 2026. This update adds a section describing what happens when Superscribe is tried without an account.

What We Collect

• Account data via Google sign-in (email, display name, profile image)
• Voice recordings processed for transcription. Recordings made while you are signed in are kept in your account until you delete them. Sessions recorded without an account, described under "Trying Superscribe Without an Account" below, are kept for 90 days
• Time entries and project data you create
• Contact names and phone numbers if you enable contact sync and grant permission. Synced contacts are stored with your Superscribe account on our servers
• macOS app preferences stored locally on your device
• Billing metadata from Stripe and Apple In-App Purchase (plan, invoices, product identifiers, transaction status). We do not store card numbers

How We Use It

• Provide voice-to-text transcription services
• Track time and generate reports at your request
• Use synced contacts to show caller names, match calls to contacts in call history, and let you call contacts from the app
• Manage subscriptions and payments
• Send important service updates
• Maintain security and comply with law

What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your personal information
• We do not share your data for advertising
• We do not use recordings made in your account for any purpose other than providing the service to you
• We do not sell or share demo audio or transcripts, and we do not use them for advertising

Voice Recordings

This section describes recordings you make while signed in to a Superscribe account. Sessions recorded without an account are covered in the next section.

• Voice recordings are stored securely in encrypted cloud storage (AWS S3)
• Recordings are only used for transcription playback within your account
• You can delete any recording at any time - deletion permanently removes the audio file
• We do not use your recordings for training or any other purpose

Trying Superscribe Without an Account

Superscribe can be tried without signing in. We call this a demo session, and it is handled differently from signed-in use. Demo sessions are stored.

• When you use Superscribe without an account, we store the audio you record and the transcript produced from it
• We store this to improve the service: to measure how accurately we transcribe, to diagnose failures, to understand how the demo is used, and to detect abuse of the free demo
• Demo sessions are associated with a random install identifier generated on your device, not with your identity. We do not ask who you are to run the demo, and a demo session is not linked to a name, an email address, or a Superscribe account
• Along with the audio and transcript we store the time of the session, how long it lasted, the detected language, the app version you used, and a one-way hashed form of your IP address. The hash is used only to detect abuse of the free demo; we do not store your IP address itself and the hash cannot be reversed into one
• Demo audio and transcripts are deleted 90 days after the session
• We do not sell demo audio or transcripts, and we do not use them for advertising
• If you would rather a recording were not stored this way, sign in before you record. Recordings made in an account fall under the Voice Recordings section above, are used only to provide the service to you, and can be deleted by you at any time

Security

• Encryption at rest for sensitive data
• HTTPS everywhere
• Limited access on a need-to-know basis

Retention

• We keep data only as long as needed to run the service
• Demo audio and transcripts, recorded without an account, are deleted 90 days after the session
• On account deletion: all your data including recordings is permanently removed
• You can delete individual recordings at any time

Your Choices

• Access, update, or delete your data
• Export your time entries and reports
• Delete your account at any time

Changes

We may update this policy and will change the effective date above. The August 21, 2026 update added the "Trying Superscribe Without an Account" section, which discloses that demo audio and transcripts are stored for 90 days, and scoped the Voice Recordings section to signed-in use.
