Privacy Policy

Previous version effective date: August 21, 2026. This update adds the section "Cookies and Measuring Our Ads": the cookie banner, Google Ads measurement with your consent, and our own visit statistics.

What We Collect

• Account data via Google sign-in (email, display name, profile image)
• Voice recordings processed for transcription. Recordings made while you are signed in are kept in your account until you delete them. Sessions recorded without an account, described under "Trying Superscribe Without an Account" below, are kept for 90 days
• Time entries and project data you create
• Contact names and phone numbers if you enable contact sync and grant permission. Synced contacts are stored with your Superscribe account on our servers
• macOS app preferences stored locally on your device
• Billing metadata from Stripe, Apple In-App Purchase and Google Play Billing (plan, invoices, product identifiers, purchase and order identifiers, transaction status). We do not store card numbers

How We Use It

• Provide voice-to-text transcription services
• Track time and generate reports at your request
• Use synced contacts to show caller names, match calls to contacts in call history, and let you call contacts from the app
• Manage subscriptions and payments
• Send important service updates
• Maintain security and comply with law

What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your personal information
• We do not use your recordings, transcripts, contacts or account data for advertising
• We do not use recordings made in your account for any purpose other than providing the service to you
• We do not sell or share demo audio or transcripts, and we do not use them for advertising

Voice Recordings

This section describes recordings you make while signed in to a Superscribe account. Sessions recorded without an account are covered in the next section.

• Voice recordings are stored securely in encrypted cloud storage (AWS S3)
• Recordings are only used for transcription playback within your account
• You can delete any recording at any time - deletion permanently removes the audio file
• We do not use your recordings for training or any other purpose

Trying Superscribe Without an Account

Superscribe can be tried without signing in. We call this a demo session, and it is handled differently from signed-in use. Demo sessions are stored.

• When you use Superscribe without an account, we store the audio you record and the transcript produced from it
• We store this to improve the service: to measure how accurately we transcribe, to diagnose failures, to understand how the demo is used, and to detect abuse of the free demo
• Demo sessions are associated with a random install identifier generated on your device, not with your identity. We do not ask who you are to run the demo, and a demo session is not linked to a name, an email address, or a Superscribe account
• Along with the audio and transcript we store the time of the session, how long it lasted, the detected language, the app version you used, and a one-way hashed form of your IP address. The hash is used only to detect abuse of the free demo; we do not store your IP address itself and the hash cannot be reversed into one
• Demo audio and transcripts are deleted 90 days after the session
• We do not sell demo audio or transcripts, and we do not use them for advertising
• If you would rather a recording were not stored this way, sign in before you record. Recordings made in an account fall under the Voice Recordings section above, are used only to provide the service to you, and can be deleted by you at any time

Cookies and Measuring Our Ads

The first time you visit superscribe.io, a banner asks whether we may use cookies to measure our ads. Nothing marked "only with your consent" below happens until you press Accept. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing your consent removes what our own statistics stored in your browser.

• Always, because the site needs them: the sign-in session cookie when you use the dashboard; ss_consent, which remembers your cookie choice for 12 months; and ss_lang, which remembers the language you chose for 12 months
• Only with your consent, Google Ads: Google Ireland Limited measures which of our ads lead to sign-ups and purchases. Google's tag loads only after you accept. It then sets Google's advertising cookies (such as _gcl_au) and reads the ad click identifier in the link you arrived from. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
• Only with your consent, our own statistics remember you: a random visitor identifier in your browser's storage, the first page you opened in the tab, and the ss_acquisition cookie (90 days), which records the page and the ad you came from, so we can see which pages bring the people who sign up
• Without your consent, our own statistics still count the page view, and store nothing on your device: the page, the site you came from, a random identifier that is not kept, your browser's user agent and your IP address. We use these only to count visits and to filter out bots, and delete them after 90 days

• Eleven Labs for voice-to-text transcription
• Google for authentication
• Google Ads (Google Ireland Limited) to measure our ads, only with your consent
• Stripe for web and desktop payments
• Apple In-App Purchase for iOS purchases
• Google Play Billing for Android purchases
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) to deliver notifications to the Android app, such as incoming calls and suggested actions after a call
• MongoDB Atlas for data storage

Security

• Encryption at rest for sensitive data
• HTTPS everywhere
• Limited access on a need-to-know basis

Retention

• We keep data only as long as needed to run the service
• Demo audio and transcripts, recorded without an account, are deleted 90 days after the session
• On account deletion: all your data including recordings is permanently removed
• You can delete individual recordings at any time

• Access, update, or delete your data
• Export your time entries and reports
• Delete your account at any time

Changes

We may update this policy and will change the effective date above. The August 21, 2026 update added the "Trying Superscribe Without an Account" section, which discloses that demo audio and transcripts are stored for 90 days, and scoped the Voice Recordings section to signed-in use.
