Harvest alternative for brokers

A Harvest alternative for brokers who need usable output, not more cleanup

If Harvest still leaves too much recap work, admin drag, or lost context, this is the pain-first alternative.

Harvest Alternative for Brokers

Superscribe

Stop rebuilding work after the fact

Use Superscribe to capture the words, context, next steps, and time while the work is still happening.

Also on desktop

Harvest is a good timer. That is the problem. A timer starts when you remember to start it, and brokers almost never remember, because your day does not begin at a desk. It begins on a call where a client asks what the rate would look like at 20 percent down, and you answer from memory, and the number you said is now a promise.

That is why people search for a Harvest alternative for brokers. Not because Harvest is broken, but because the capture starts too late. By the time you open the tracker, the quote is already spoken, the callback is already promised, and the only record of both is in your head.

The real gap is not billing. It is the call.

Insurance, mortgage, and finance brokers do not lose money on unlogged hours the way a designer does. You lose money on detail drift. You told one client 6.4 and another 6.9. You promised a callback Thursday morning and it moved to Friday afternoon in your memory. Underwriting asked a question and you answered it verbally with a number you no longer have written anywhere.

Harvest tracks that you spent 45 minutes on “Client Calls.” It does not know what you quoted. It does not know who you owe a callback to. It does not keep the audio of the moment the number was said out loud.

So the evening reconstruction begins. You scroll your call log, you guess durations, you rewrite notes from memory, and you hope the memory is accurate. Brokers close on trust built over calls, then spend evenings rebuilding what was quoted to whom. That is the actual cost.

Compact comparison

What you need Harvest Superscribe
Time entry Manual start/stop or later entry Capture happens as you speak and work
Client call capture Not the product Superscribe Phone captures call turns on your own number
Multilingual clients Not applicable Multilingual transcription with automatic language detection
The quoted number Whatever you typed later Transcript plus audio kept for the disputed detail
Callback promises You remember or you forget Pulled out of the call as action items
Where output goes Invoices and reports Structured output into workflows, APIs, OpenAI, or agents via API/MCP
Invoicing depth Mature, full-featured Not an invoicing suite

Be fair about it. If invoicing and expense reports are the job, Harvest is strong and mature. Superscribe is not trying to be an accounting product.

Choose the one that matches where your work starts

Choose Harvest if your billing is project-based, you work mostly at a desk, and your value is measured in logged hours rather than spoken commitments.

Choose Superscribe if your highest-value work happens on the phone, the numbers you say out loud matter, and your evenings are spent rebuilding records that already happened.

Why I built this instead of another timer

I got tired of guessing my hours at the end of every month. I would dig through emails, code, chat messages and random notes trying to remember what I actually did. The numbers were never right and I knew I was losing money.

Three years ago I had the idea for a phone app that could catch client calls by itself. I gave up on it back then. It seemed too hard. In the years after that I kept building other voice tools, and each one taught me something.

When I added automatic time tracking to the desktop app, I saw the missing piece. The desktop side handled the writing. But the real client detail was still trapped in calls. I needed the phone part so everything would connect without extra work. New AI tools made the hard part practical.

The proof came on a flight. I made normal business calls with my regular phone number over the plane’s Starlink Wi-Fi. The calls were transcribed, cleaned up, turned into structured output, and sent into my work system. Agents handled the next steps without me touching anything.

For a broker that means the rate you quoted on the call is written down before you land.

What this looks like in a broker’s week

Superscribe Phone captures the call on your own phone number. No new number to give clients. No “please join this meeting link.” The call is not interrupted. Afterwards you get the summary, the action items, and the record, and the audio stays available for the one detail that later gets disputed.

Then the structured output moves. Client call record into your CRM. Quote figures into a follow-up. Every promised callback becomes a reminder instead of a vague intention. Routing goes through API, MCP, webhook, email, or agent workflows, so it fits the systems you already run.

The desktop side still matters, just later in the chain. When you write the follow-up email, the underwriting note, or the file summary, you speak and clean words appear directly in whatever field you are in. That act of dictating is the tracked event. Superscribe matches it to the right client context and counts the time. Matching gets sharper the more you work on a file. You can set a minimum billable unit, default 30 minutes, and change it to whatever your standard is.

No timers to start. No evening reconstruction.

The honest limitation

Superscribe will not replace your invoicing stack. If you leave Harvest, you still need somewhere to send bills. What changes is the input quality. Instead of typing estimates from memory into a tracker, the record is built from the actual conversation, with the numbers as they were spoken.

Cleaner client records. Fewer missed callbacks. A defensible trail. That is the trade.

FAQ

Does Superscribe use a separate phone number? No. Superscribe Phone works with your own phone number, so clients call and see the number they already know.

What about calls in another language? Superscribe supports many languages with automatic language detection, including multilingual calls, which matters when you serve mixed-language client books.

Can I keep the audio for a disputed quote? Yes. The transcript and summary are the working record, and the audio is kept for the moment someone challenges a specific figure.
