The business call recording app test: what happens after you hang up
Client calls are where the real detail lives, and most of it gets rebuilt later at night, unpaid, from memory. Superscribe Phone records the call on your own iPhone number and hands back the summary, the decisions and the next steps.
Superscribe
Stop rebuilding calls from memory
Use Superscribe to capture the words, context, next steps, and time while the work is still happening.
Search for a business call recording app and almost everything you find does one job. Press record, get audio, get a file with a timestamp for a name. It lands in a list next to forty other files you are never going to open again.
For a consultant that is the wrong end of the problem. You did not want the audio. You wanted the two decisions, the date you agreed on, the thing the client mentioned in passing about their new finance lead, and enough structure that writing the client update takes two minutes instead of twenty. A business call recording app that stops at the file has not saved you anything. It has moved the work to tonight.
What people actually want from a business call recording app
Be honest about the listening back. Nobody does it. When you have a 40 minute scoping call on tape and need one number out of it, you scrub, guess, give up, and email the client to ask them again. The recording existed. It did not help.
The reason consultants search for this is what happens between calls, not during them. You take one at eleven, another at half past, another at noon. By the third, the first is already soft at the edges. The nuance you are actually paid for, why the client rejected option B, the exact scope line you agreed to, the tone that told you the budget was not real, leaks out somewhere between the second call and the evening.
The pattern is always the same. The call ends well, you have a clear head for ninety seconds, then the next thing starts and the note you meant to write becomes a line that says “send them the thing”. Three days later you are staring at that line, rebuilding the whole conversation from memory to work out which thing. It is nine in the evening, it is unpaid, and it is slightly wrong.
That reconstruction pass is the real cost of a call, and a plain recorder does not touch it. The argument for recording business calls is not archiving. It is recovery.
Try it on the real workflow
Put it on your next client call
Answer on your own number, the way you always do. When you hang up, the transcript, the summary and the suggested actions are already waiting.
What happens on a Superscribe call
Superscribe Phone is a free iPhone app. You keep your own number and you answer calls exactly as you do now. There is no bot joining anything, no new phone system, no porting, no extensions to learn. Your client sees your number and hears you.
After the call, the transcript arrives with a title and a summary. Many languages, detected automatically, which matters if half your clients switch into their own language once the small talk stops.
Then it suggests actions, and there are only a few kinds, deliberately. Call someone back. Put the time you agreed to in the calendar. Create a reminder. Save an unknown caller to contacts. Turn a list you dictated into a checklist in Reminders. Each one is a single tap and nothing happens on its own. Time-sensitive ones show up on the lock screen with buttons, so the callback you promised gets made from the same screen where you noticed it.
The call is also filed to the right project by itself. That sounds small until you have six clients running at once and no longer spend Sunday evening working out which conversation belonged to which engagement.
One thing it deliberately does not do: it does not write or send your client email. I am not interested in a tool that sends things in your name behind your back. You get the summary and the action items, and the actual message stays yours to write, from something better than memory.
The follow-up workflow
Get every decision out of the call and into the plan
Run a week of client calls through it. Each one lands as project-filed notes, a calendar entry, a reminder. One tap each, nothing sent on your behalf.
Meetings in the room, and where the notes end up
Consulting is not only phone calls. A lot of it happens around a table, which is where video meeting tools are useless.
Tap Start meeting, put the phone on the table, and the room is recorded with a visible recording state so nobody is confused about what is happening. Anyone remote can be dialled in by phone onto the same transcript. Speakers are separated and named when they introduce themselves. When you stop the meeting, the summary, the decisions and the follow-ups are ready.
From there it goes where your work lives. Calls and meetings push into Pipedrive as an activity. Anything else pulls the same structured output through the API and MCP, so it can feed whatever you have built around your practice. If you work with a team, Business Voice adds seats and pooled minutes. Capture is iPhone only. The desktop apps handle dictation, not room recording.
Why I built the follow-up in and not just the recording
I am Siim. I built Superscribe because I kept losing the same hour. My spoken work was fine. The call was good, the thinking was good, the decisions were made out loud. What was missing was everything after: the note, the task, and an honest record of what the client and I had actually agreed to.
So the product is not a recorder with a summary bolted on. It captures spoken work, from business calls on the phone and from dictation at the desk, and turns it into text, tasks and billable context that lands in the right place by itself. The point was never to make people talk more. It was to stop making them rebuild work they had already done.
If you only take one idea from this page, take that one. You should never take call notes again, because the notes should be a side effect of having the conversation.
FAQ
Does my client have to install anything or let a bot join? No. It is a normal call to your normal number. Nothing joins, nothing appears on their side, and there is nothing for them to accept or download.
Does the other person know they are being recorded? The app shows a visible recording state on your side, and telling the other party is your call to make. Recording rules differ by country and by industry, so say it out loud at the start. Most clients do not mind once they hear the reason is accurate notes.
Will it draft my follow-up email? No, and that is on purpose. It gives you the summary, the decisions and the action items. Writing the client update is still yours, which is the part clients are paying you for anyway.
